Master Thesis at the Faculty of Agriculture The Effect of Pomegranate and Oak Fruit Extract in Some strains of Actinomyces and Streptococcus

Discuss student Mustafa Asaad Majid from the Department of Food Science – Faculty of Agriculture , University of Kufa Master ‘s thesis tagged ( the effect of pomegranate peel extract and the fruit of oak in some strains of bacteria filamentous Actinomyces  and bacteria of Streptococcus   ) and under the supervision of Prof. Hamid Majeed Al – Obeidi.

     During which the study of isolating and diagnosing S.mutans, S.alivarius and A. viscosus of individuals with tooth decay and gingivitis collected 97 samples and planted on circles, and the study showed that caries is related to malnutrition resulting from the consumption of sugars as the sugar is more sucrose Sugars encouraging the growth of S.mutans. The inhibitory activity of the mixture of pomegranate and oak bark against S.mutans was studied. And A. viscosus. The qualitative detection showed that pomegranate and oak bark (alkaline and water extract) contain alkaloids, phenols, clicosides, tannins and sapponia, except for water extracts.

After extensive discussion, the letter was accepted by a decision of the Committee and very well appreciated.
