Within cooperation between the University of Kufa represented by the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection and Wageningen University& Research in Netherland, Dr. Usamah A. ALkarim Alshimaysawe participated in the online Rain &Water Harvesting training course and Dr. Akeel Emad Mohammed participated in the online Agro-Hydrology& Crop production training course that provided by the OKP-IRA-104278 project titled “Efficient water management in Iraq by switching to climate-smart agriculture: capacity building and knowledge development”
OKP-IRA-104278 project is an institutional collaboration project funded by the Dutch Ministry of forging affairs. The project aims to respond to Iraq needs for improving capacities and enhancing skills in fields of efficient water management (EWM) and climate-smart agriculture (CSA). Therefore, this project will support the 6 Iraqi universities (Mosul, Karbala, Kufa, Salahaddin-Erbil, Anbar and Basra) by improving their staffs and institutions capacities to match and deliver, the needed knowledge and skills to tackle the local and global sustainable goals (SDG). Therefore, the project will result in improved capacities, the new graduated, that meet the needs of the labour market, and the institutions will be more inclusive for minorities and women.
The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)
The Orange Knowledge Programme is a €195-m Dutch global development programme, available in 53 developing countries and managed by Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organisation for internationalisation in education. Launched in mid-2017, it aims to have provided tens of thousands with the possibility to change their future through education and training by mid-2022.
